What our discerning clientele have to say about …

Our Cookbook

“Almost five years ago or maybe a bit longer, I visited Well-Sweep Herb Farm with a group from Reeves-Reed Arboretum and thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of the place – the growing fields, fairy garden, the lavender-orange ice cream. I have since moved to North Carolina and have not found anything like it.

While I have been in my new home for two years, it was just last week that I finally got to unpack a box of assorted “stuff” and there was the cook book! It happened I needed to bring a dessert to a dinner party and I flipped the pages hoping to be inspired. I chose the Cranberry Nut Bars with Rosemary – mostly because I had all the ingredients on hand! They were delicious and the hit of the evening. Just thought I’d let you know your recipe impressed these southern ladies. Thank you for so many great ideas.

Yours Truly,”

Our Courses

“I wanted to write to you to tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed the lavender class that I attended this past Saturday. I was surprised to be able to complete the lavender wand, but with patience and persistence, I finished it!

It was a beautiful day, and most enjoyable, so I want to thank you for such a wonderful time. …
Have a great day!

Sincerely,”

Ann H. – Bangor, PA

“Just want to send a “thank you” for a wonderful morning. Not only did they give instruction to make a great looking planter, but also the herbs are so healthy looking.

Thank you, again.  Your farm and the people running it are fabulous!”

Our Farm

“It has been about 2 weeks since our visit to Well Sweep, and all our plants are either flowering or have lots of new growth. … Let me finish up by thanking you again for years of your wonderful plants, and your personal care and attention that is unfortunately lacking these days. You guys really are a national treasure!”

“When I visit Well-Sweep Herb Farm I am reminded of beautiful memories from my childhood when life seemed so peaceful and innocent. Every chance I get, I visit here for the tranquility and beauty, not to mention the numerous opportunities to learn and enjoy the simpler things in life. This year I had to re-work some of my own gardens which included the extension of my herb garden and the addition of a new white flowering garden. I was aware of the abundant herb collection Well-Sweep had to offer but I was pleasantly surprised by all the varieties of white flowering specimens available.

Over the last few years I have been eagerly taking classes to learn more about herbs and their multitude of uses. Cooking with herbs, studying natural medicinal remedies, tips on growing my own garlic and fun craft projects like making lavender ornaments and wreaths, not to mention making new friends are examples of my Well-Sweep experience.

Louise, Cy, David and the rest of the Well-Sweep family are all very informative and thorough with regard to sharing their knowledge of herbs and I encourage everyone to take full advantage of the programs, lectures and hands-on classes that they offer. Touring the immaculate gardens with Cy is something that no one should miss. And don’t miss the friendly, furry family members as either a dog or kitty is usually on hand to greet you and escort you to visit the chickens, sheep, rabbits and on occasion, Mr. pig.

Writing this makes me want to jump in the car and go to Well-Sweep. It is one of New Jersey’s best kept secrets, but a secret I must tell! If you have not been there, go. If you have, then go again. There is always something new and exciting to see and you will be pleasantly reminded of how much peace and beauty we have at our fingertips.”

Our Mail Order

“Order arrived in beautiful condition. Gorgeous plants!”

Michele B. – Soddy Daisy, TN

“The pandanus amaryllifolius (we just call them “pandan plants” in Singapore) arrived today. I was very surprised by the excellent quality of the plant sent to me. It was much more mature than I expected, and had excellent root development.

This gives me great confidence in buying other plants from your firm, and I would certainly not hesitate in recommending it to others.

Regards,”

Edmund L. – Fairfax, VA

“I am so impressed with your customer service! My compliments to you & your company…

Thank you so much for your help & assistance!”

Michael P. – New Orleans, LA

“Rec’d my order just a few minutes ago. My plants are in terrific shape and were well packed! Thanks! I am building new perennial borders and these four beauties will be part of all that. Can’t wait to see them in bloom next season. Thanks again for your quick and pleasant service! I’ll certainly order from you again.”

Lisa – West Wyoming, PA

“Thank you guys so very much – package arrived today and the plants look great and like they should have no problem being the stars of their Texas Gardener article with a little more growth.

Really above and beyond!

Thanks again,”

Vicki B. – Austin, TX

“Just wanted to drop you a note to say that my plants just arrived today and I am pleased to say that the plants arrived in very good shape and look soooo good. I expect them to do well. Thank you so much for the care you took in packing them for shipment.”

Elizabeth M. – Gustine, TX

“My plants arrived yesterday and all are very beautiful save one: the variegated angelica ‘Corinne Tremaine’ which is a little yellowed. The one green stem looks strong so I will keep it my conservatory and keep my fingers crossed.

All in all I am most impressed with the variety and quality of your plants. I’d be happy to recommend your company (plants and service) to anyone.

Thank you,”

Jane B. – Boyd, Lyme, CT

Hi Jane,

Have noted the problem with the angelica – would recommend you plant in garden or to larger size pot as soon as you can – new growth should then flourish for you. If not, please let me know.

David

“I received a number of herbs from your nursery a couple of years ago and they were fabulous! Strong, healthy, bloomed the first season; I was very impressed. So I’d like to receive your catalog and order some more great plants. Thanks.”

Meliss B. – Towson, MD

Our Open House

“It was a joy to attend your Spring open House and to witness the beautiful and thoughtful gardens you’ve created. It is obvious you have a passion and love for what you do! The three of you, together with your cheerful an helpful staff, allow us to step back and catch our breath in a chaotic world.

When you sit down at the end of the day, exhausted and ‘used up,’ please know how much your efforts are appreciated!

Thank you and God Bless!”

Diane F. – Skillman, NJ

Our Plants

“I used to live around the corner from you (so to speak) and went several times a season. Even when I lived in Pittsburgh I managed to get a spring visit in. Now that I’ve moved to Virginia, where one would expect to perhaps find a nursery/garden shop, there is no place that compares with your establishment!!! I dream over your catalog. Thanks so much.”

Priscilla M. – Charlottesville, VA.

Our Rosemary

“I have lived in Clayton, GA for one year. (In the mountains, just south of the North Carolina boarder) I think I am on the line between zone 6 and 7. I brought rosemary (no name) with me from Baton Rouge, LA; and I bought a Logees’ Blue from you last summer.

I planted the ‘Logees Blue’ in a protected place, and as the temperature started dropping, added some hay around the plant. We had unseasonably cold weather from Dec 29 to the end of Feb with a warming trend at the end of January. The coldest night was 1 degree, with a couple of weeks below freezing.

Result: the Logees’ Blue turned a bit bronze, but survived. All other upright plants perished, even in protected places. I also have a recumbent (no name) rosemary, sitting exposed on a bank which didn’t care about the cold weather one bit.”

Joanna G. – Clayton, GA

“I ordered rosemary that was advertised as winter-hardy, ‘Dutch Mill’ and it’s made it through two winters now (lower Hudson Valley), and I’d like to buy more.”

Terri W. – Blauvelt, NY

Our Tours

“Saturday, spent at Well-Sweep Herb Farm, was a delicious experience. …

The setting was perfect, the gardens a joy, the tour informative, luncheon delectable, the speaker a charm and dessert mouth watering. …

Thank you for a lovely day, a happy experience and a ‘shot in the arm’.”

Doris N. – Franklin Lakes, NJ

“In your tours you shared so much of your knowledge and passion for your gardens, your business and how you got stated. You were most gracious serving us superb refreshments which were a true “taste” of what you’re all about. You were very accommodating in setting up for our meeting and agreeable to using our microphones. You and your staff were wonderful! It was a perfect day and thoroughly enjoyed by everyone.

We all thank you so much.

Gratefully,”
